Roots of the contemporary children’s participation idea:
How Polish pedagogue Janusz Korczak inspired the concept

Currently, children’s participation is one of the most promoted ideas of the social development from a global perspective. Drawing from the teachings of acclaimed Polish pedagogue Janusz Korczak, the presentation will discuss modern trends in the implementation of participatory rights of children.

Prof. Dr Hab. Ewa Jarosz Is Professor at the Institute of Pedagogy, University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. Her research interests focus on children’s rights, children’s participation and childhood studies, as well as violence against children. She has authored many publications (papers and books) and is an acclaimed member of a number of academic and professional associations nationally and internationally.

Content and language integrated learning (CLIL)
in European Higher Education

The presentation discusses CLIL modules present in higher education with a focus on special pedagogical and methodological approaches related to content and language learning in CLIL. It aims at highlighting the benefits and challenges that higher education Institutions face when introducing CLIL.

Dr Katarzyna Papaja is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Linguistics, University of Silesia, Poland. She specialises in methods of teaching English as a foreign language and bilingual education. She has published widely on bilingual education methodologies (mainly CLIL) and is the founder of the international CLIL and CLILiG symposium.
