Overall objectives:
1 - 1. Identify and address some of the main issues in the History of Autonomy during the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, highlighting its constants and lines of force, through an analysis centered on political, institutional and economic-financial aspects, but without forgetting the its correlation with Culture, Religion and Society; 2. Define and demonstrate the importance of historical knowledge in the analysis and understanding of the present and its function as an essential element in a framework of awareness, development and socio-political competitiveness; 3. Understand the affirmation processes and the specificity of Portuguese insular cultural identities; 4. Develop the concepts of globalization, globalization, cultural and national identities, insularity, region, nation and transnationality; 5. Improve oral and written communication skills, with vocabulary and conceptual discourse appropriate to the curricular unit;

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Evaluation Methodology:
a) Reading Sheets; b) Personal study; c) information gathering work; d) oral exposition; e) Reading of suggested texts; f) Thematic discussion; g) preparation for the assessment. Face-to-face assessment and levels of effective participation in class (35%); written work and oral presentation (65%). Individual final work (topic development indicated by the professor): 65%; Class attendance and participation: 35%. * Individual final work [critical review]: minimum of 10 pages (maximum of 14 pages), excluding bibliographical references and attachments, composed in Times New Roman 12, with 1.5 of space between lines, which must be sent, in formats PDF and WORD, by email, through the Student Support Office (SSO). The Plagiarism Report is required.
