Overall objectives:
Students will be able to introduce themselves and interact exchanging personal information. They will be able to ask about one?s health, the weather, nature and some of the facilities in a city. In addition they will be able to talk about festivities, describe objects and speak about some feature in Madeira.
Students will be able to read and write simple texts, recognize and use vocabulary related to the weather, colour, the city, nature, daily routine and leisure activities.
Syllabus:
1.The German Language
1.1. Grammar
1.1.1. Sentence Structure ? position of the verb after the subject, inverted with the subject or at the end of the sentence.
1.1.2. Definite and Indefinite Articles of masculine, feminine, neuter and plural words.
1.1.3. Verb tenses
1.1.3.1. Conjugation in the Present, Present Perfect, Simple Past and Future Simple.
1.1.3.2. Main, auxiliary, modal, reflexive, and verbs with a separable particle.
1.1.4. The Cases: Subject, Direct Object, Indirect Object, Possessive.
1.1.5. Personal and possessive Pronouns.
1.1.6. Adjectives and adjective degrees
1.1.7. Punctuation and phonetics
1.1.8. Adverbs of time, place, sequence and frequency.
1.1.9. Conjunctions: and, but, therefore, because, while, even though
1.2.0. Prepositions of time and place and changeable prepositions: in, at, on, behind, in front of, next to, etc.
1.2.1. Prepositions used with the accusative case ( for, without, against, through, etc) and dative case( with, since, from, at, towards, at)

1.2.2. Presentations/Introductions Personal Information (Name, Address, Ager, Residence, Origin )
1.2.3. Family / Colours / Countries / Hobbies / daily Routine / Numbers / Time / Weather / Festivities / Directions / Human Body / illnesses and ailments / Jobs / environment.

1.3.1. Writing short texts about specific topics.
1.3.2. Asking and answering questions

Assesssment methods and criteria:
Students will be assessed by two written tests (30% + 30%) and an oral interview (30%). The remaining 10% is for attendance and punctuality (5%) and effort, interest and initiative in the classroom(5%).
