Overall objectives:
0 Provide technicians with knowledge that allows them to provide first assistance to victims of accidents or sudden illnesses;
Technicians are expected to know how to identify life-threatening or quality-of-life situations and apply the respective action protocol, collecting, recording, evaluating and transmitting information about the victim;
1 Describe the different links of the integrated medical emergency system (SIEM);
2 Describe the different links in the chain of survival;
3 Identify the risks inherent to the rescuer condition;
4 Correctly identify emergency situations and activate all mechanisms essential to provision of assistance;
5 Know the concept of basic life support (BLS) describing its different steps;
6 Correctly perform rescue techniques when approaching the victim, according to the scenario encountered (accident or sudden illness).
