Overall objectives:

1 - This discipline has as main objective to introduce to the elements of language, technical aspects and production methodologies indispensable for an integrated and creative use of the audiovisual through means, nowadays fundamental, of recording the reality, in the domain of the fixed image and/or in movement.
2 - Theoretical-practical in nature, this discipline consists of theoretical expository classes, with explanation of contents through resources such as images, films and audiovisual schemes, and also with bibliographic support when necessary

Syllabus:

1 - Photography:
1.1 - Brief technical history of photography;
1.2 - Basic concepts of optics. Lenses, lenses, field depth;
1.3 - Basic lighting concepts. Light, signal, colour temperature. Types of lighting and equipment;
1.4 - The photographic language. Framework, composition and angulation;
1.5 - The photographic process. The digital support;
1.6 - Image capture. Photo camera functions;
1.7 - Cameras. Types and formats. Digital peripherals;
1.8 - Image treatment and manipulation;
1.9 - Software Practice: Adobe Photoshop.
2 - Video:
2.1 - Brief technical history of cinema and video;
2.2 - Cinematic language and video specificity;
2.3 - Framing, scale of planes and camera angles;
2.4 - Time, movement and sequence. Fixed planes and camera movements;
2.5 - The audiovisual narrative;
2.6 - Image capture. Video camera functions;
2.7 - Cameras. Types and formats. Auxiliary equipment;
2.8 - The audio component. Relation sound/image;
2.9 - Montage/Non-linear editing: Adobe Premiere.
