Overall objectives:

1 - Consolidate vocabulary and grammatical structures that allow effective communication in English.
2 - Acquire and develop oral and written communication skills in English.
3 - Produce oral and written statements in English.
4 - Acquire and use technical vocabulary in the area of accommodation and tourism management in a communication situation.

Syllabus:

1 - Present, past and future - Regular and irregular verbs; Modal Verbs (can/could; must; may/might; should); Degrees of adjectives: comparative and superlative; If-Clauses: types I and II; Interrogative pronouns; Prepositions of place, time and movement; Frequency adverbs; phrasal verbs.
2 - Analysis and production of oral and written utterances in English in the general scope of accommodation and tourism management: formal and informal forms of presentation and greeting; characterization of places; geography and tourism resources.
3 - Reading and understanding authentic oral and written texts.

Evaluation Methodology:
Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20) Classes are of the expositive, theoretical-practical type. The presentation of the syllabus material is achieved through constant lecturer-student-lecturer interaction. During class-meetings students will develop their oral production as well as their written work in English, both through individual work and pair work. Students are also asked to use Total English - Intermediate, Workbook, which will help them consolidate what has been studied in class. Students are assessed during the semester in two written partial exams (Exam 1: 50% + Exam 2: 50%), in which their language skills will be tested at the intermediate level. The Re-sit Exame will be a 100% written exam.
