Overall objectives:
1 - Teaching the concepts, principles and fundamental theories that allow to describe and explain the mechanical and hydraulic behaviour of the soil and rock masses.
Syllabus:
1 - Genesis and constitution of soils and rocks;
2 - Physical properties of soils;
3 - Basic Concepts of Mechanics;
4 - Tension in the ground and in the pore water;
5 - Permeability;
6 - Compressibility and consolidation;
7 - Shear strength;
8 - Compaction;
9 - Hydromechanical behaviour of rocks.
