Overall objectives:

1 - Acquire transversal knowledge on planning and construction of buildings;
2 - Know materials and systems for the study of integrated construction and energy solutions;
3 - Acquire knowledge about the applicable regulations;
4 - Acquire knowledge about building interior networks.

Syllabus:

1 - Functional requirements and building quality rules;
2 - Thermal behaviour: heat transmission; thermal balance; methods to estimate energy needs; regulation (SCE, REH and RECS);
3 - Building humidity: forms, causes and effects;
4 - Ventilation of buildings: natural ventilation; forced ventilation; air quality;
5 - Building acoustics: noise sources; sound propagation and measurement; sound insulation to airborne and impact noises; introduction to noise regulation;
6 - Daylighting: physics of light and fundamental parametrs; light sources; daylight factor;
7 - Building networks: water supply; drainage of sewers; gas; introduction to design and execution.
