Overall objectives:

1 - Identify the importance of information systems in the management and organization of data in the context of professional contexts.
2 - Apply advanced Excel functions to solve problems in the scope of Accounting and Taxation.
3 - Use Access to manage data and solve problems in the scope of Accounting and Taxation.
4 - Develop individual work capacity, autonomy and creativity in learning and problem solving, as well as research and organization of data and information.

Syllabus:

1 - Introduction to Information Systems.
2 - Use of the Excel spreadsheet to solve problems in the area of Accounting and Taxation.
2.1 - Elementary concepts, logical and conditional functions.
2.2 - Protection of cells, sheets and documents.
2.3 - Analysis of consultation and reference, financial and statistical functions.
2.4 - Using Excel as a database, creating filters and dynamic tables and graphs.
3 - Brief introduction to Access and the basic principles of database construction.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
There are 2 elements of evaluation (2 frequencies to be solved on the computer), each with a weight of 50% in the final evaluation. In each one, is mandatory to obtain a final grade greater than or equal to 8 values. For approval in CU, it is necessary to complete the 2 elements and obtain a final grade greater than or equal to 10 (9.5) values. If a student doesn?t carry out the 2 elements, is considered not assessed. Season Appeal: for those who do not have approval in the normal season, or for those who wish to improve the grade. The appeal exam is composed of 2 elements, corresponding to the 2 elements of normal season assessment. The grade of each element is the one obtained at appeal time, if the student performed this element of assessment at this period; otherwise, it will be the grade that the student obtained in that element in the normal season. Students wishing to improve their grade must take the full exam. Special Season: (in September) for the cases provided for by law.
