Overall objectives:
1 - To study design and enterprise engineering as a discipline encompassing engineering concepts and methods applied to enterprises having as a goal the conceptualization and representation of multiple aspects of organizations, as well as to facilitate organizational analysis and change.
2 - To develop competences in modeling and in applying methodologies and tools utilized in the representation, implementation and change in organizations regarding their strategy, architecture, structure, processes and information systems.
3 - Introduction to the subject of low-code platforms, drivers and inhibitors in their use, analysis of existing solutions on the market (closed and open-source).
4 - Training of students in the application of acquired skills, in the modeling of fictitious and/or real organizations/companies and respective rapid implementation of information systems on low-code platforms.
Syllabus:
1 - Introduction to the discipline of Enterprise Design and Engineering: the context of Information Systems Engineering and Organizational Sciences; Basic theoretical notions: ontology, semiotics, system and model; State of the art in modeling methods and notations.
2 - Introduction to the DEMO method (Design and Engineering Methodology for Organizations); DEMO's Axioms and Theorem; The DEMO methodology; The DEMO models of Construction, Processes, Facts and Action.
3 - Mission, strategy and organization architecture; Organization control; Organizational change: the Generation, Operationalization and Discontinuation of organization artifacts.
4 - Definition and principles of low-code platforms; advantages, limitations, drivers and inhibitors of low-code development; comparison with traditional development approaches; overview of the most used platforms in the market.
