Civil Engineering
Workload:
80 Hours
Number of ECTS:
7,5 ECTS
Language:
Portuguese
Overall objectives:
1 - After the knowledge acquired on the design of common Reinforced Concrete structures in the 1st Cycle, this curricular unit aims to extend this knowledge to prestressed concrete structures and special structures, namely bridges (an introduction), reservoirs, silos and chimneys.
2 - Provide calculation and design methodologies.
3 - Learn the applicable legislation, standards and recommendations.
Syllabus:
1 - Design of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures
2 - Introduction to the Design of Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Bridges
3 - Reinforced Concrete Reservoirs
4 - Silos
5 - Chimneys

Assesssment methods and criteria:
Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)
Evaluation Methodology:
In theoretical classes, of an expository nature, calculation formulations and real cases are presented for critical discussion with students of current design solutions. In theoretical-practical classes, exercises are carried out in order to develop students' analytical skills. Two tests with theoretical questions and practical problems related to the material taught in the discipline. The tests have the objective to assess the theoretical and theoretical-practical knowledge obtained by the students. This way, the student may, during the semester, evaluate his performance and change strategies, if necessary. Weight: 50% each test, with a minimum of 8.00 values. Minimum test average: 9.50 values. The students with grades above 16 will have to make an oral test, otherwise the final grade is 16.
