Overall objectives:

1 - The main objectives of the course covers four key areas: I - Develop an effective mastery of the concepts, languages;and methodological structures associated with the world of design, allowing consequent development of the ability to apply them contextually; II - Provide a qualified environment for practice and consequent systematization of fundamental methodological principles of creative processes associated with the design; III - Provide contextual development for the ability to analyze specific problems, select appropriate strategies and apply the most effective methodologies for solving typical problems in the context of design; IV - Provide an effective work experience in multidisciplinary project teams, efficiently developing communication skills and integration of individual skills and creative ability into an efficient collective effort.

Syllabus:

1 - Approach to conventional methods for identifying, classifiyng, structuring, solving and evaluating solutions for problems in design;
2 - Approach to communication methodologies and structuring strategies of project team work;
3 - Approach to the fundamental skills associated with creative processes in design - methods, tools, systems for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency in the implementation of systems.

Evaluation Methodology:
Studio session Presentation Lectures Project Proposal: 20% Final Project: 80% This is a project based class. There is no exam or in-class test. The grade will be based on the quality of the final deliverable, group performance, adjusted by peer-evaluation and class participation. 70% project, 30% peer-evaluation. Main evaluation parameters: I - Correct and systematic approach to concepts, methodologies and techniques. II - Team performance and intrinsic qualities of specific contributions to final product. III - Levels of creativity displayed. Evaluation components and corresponding percentages: Project I - 40%; Project II - 40%; Individual report - 20%.
