Overall objectives:

1 - In this curricular unit it is intended that the student, under the scientific supervision of the advisor of his master dissertation thesis and with the collaboration of the conductor of this UC, will make a monograph on the subject of his dissertation and present it publicly. This course aims to enable the student to acquire specific theoretical knowledge on the subject they are investigating. Additionally, the monograph is expected to be a significant part of the introduction of the dissertation thesis. Students will then be given the opportunity, on the basis of criticism and suggestions made by reviewers, to obtain a prior evaluation of the quality of the review and thus improve the dissertation quality. Thus it is intended that students learn to: Efficiently access the literature on biochemistry
2 - Write a literature review
3 - Communicate scientific information at various levels
4 - Being active learners and critical thinkers

Syllabus:

1 - Master's students should present a monograph, written in Portuguese or English, on the subject of their Master's dissertation. The orientation in the development of the monograph is under the supervision of the master's thesis dissertation. This monograph is presented and publicly defended during the 2nd semester exam season. The monograph should present the theme of the dissertation, scientifically correct and professional, clearly indicating the current state of the art in the area of student dissertation thesis and what are the challenges for the scientific community or companies area concerned.

Evaluation Methodology:
This is a curricular unit based on the critical study of an area of science and the search for information in a guided way. This analysis of the theme under study is performed under the coordination of the master professor of the Master thesis and should involve a process of knowledge construction by the student, involving research, reading, interpretation, analysis and writing. Students will be evaluated by presenting a monograph on the subject of the master dissertation. Evaluation of the monograph and its oral presentation is the responsibility of a jury consisting of the UC conductor, and two other teachers.
