Overall objectives:

Enable students to:

- Recognize the pharmacology of antimicrobials, as well as the general principles of antibiotic therapy;

- Recognize the spectrum of bacteria that cause infections and infectious diseases;

- Understand the role that the microbiology laboratory has in the choice and correct use of antibiotics;

- Know the clinical reasoning for the choice of empirical and targeted antimicrobial therapy;

- Indicate the basis of etiotropic therapy for the most important infectious diseases of the different systems/organs;

- To describe the problem of multidrug resistance and the consequences of antibiotic therapy;

2 - Errors and controversies in antibiotic therapy; 

3 - Microbiology - agents of infection; 

4 - The role of the microbiology laboratory; 

5 - Antibiotics - pharmacology; 

6 - Principle of antibiotic therapy; 

7- Intra-abdominal infections; 

8 - Surgical antibiotic prophylaxis; 

9 - Urinary infection; 

10 - Meningitis; 

11 - Bacteremia; 

12 - Endocarditis; 

13- Treatment of infections in pediatrics; 

14 - Respiratory infection; 

15 - Other infectious diseases (Leptospirosis, Q fever, syphilis); 

16 - Infection of the skin and soft tissues; 

17 - Gastroenteritis; 

18 - Sexually transmitted diseases; 

19 - Resistance and multi-resistance - ESKAPE (MRSA, ESBL, CBP); 

20 - Correct use of antibiotics in patients in the hospital; 

21 - Assessment.
