OPTIONAL
OPTIONAL - DISEASES OF THE LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM
Learning the basic aspects of the Semiology of Rheumatic Diseases
OPTIONAL - RESPIRATORY DISEASES
Recognize the symptoms and signs of respiratory disease.
Understand the importance of their characterization and interpretation in the context of clinical reasoning.
Acquire a critical version of the complementary diagnostic tests.
OPTIONAL - DISEASES OF THE URINARY SYSTEM
The seven subject areas encompass everything that a non-nephrologist and non-urologist physician should know for their clinical practice;
OPTIONAL - ENDOCRINOLOGY AND METABOLIC DISEASES
1) To sensitize students to endocrine pathology so that they know how to evaluate symptoms and signs and can recognize endocrine diseases; 2) To enable students to order complementary exams carefully; 3) To promote the critical analysis of complementary exams; 4) To define a therapeutic plan
OPTIONAL - CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE
At the end of this period each student should be able to: a) Establish the pathophysiological relationship for the main clinical syndromes in cardiovascular medicine; b) Establish coherent diagnostic hypotheses; c) Interpret the essence of the main diagnostic complementary methods, both from the point of view of the physician and the patient (the example of interventional cardiology); d) Understand the basic principles of the most common therapeutic procedures used in cardiovascular medicine; e) Establish a prognosis from the clinical situation of the patient
OPTIONAL - DIGESTIVE PATHOLOGY
CLINICAL SEMIOLOGY INTERNSHIP - HOSPITAL INTERNSHIP + ECG
Hospital internship
Primary Objectives- Preparation of 4 complete individual Clinical Histories, discussed together by the tutor and students. The elaboration of each history has to be tutored, oriented, discussed, corrected and evaluated by the tutor. This process aims to familiarize you with the collection of clinical symptoms and signs and the structuring of clinical reasoning. It also aims to consolidate the execution of the complete objective examination.
The secondary objectives are: 1) Introduction to clinical practice, aiming to initiate students in the rules and habits of teamwork, to promote the appropriate relationship with physicians and other professional groups, namely nurses, auxiliaries and technicians, and to foster the interest for patients and clinical activity. 2) Accompaniment of the tutor in the different clinical activities, including Consultations, Clinical Meetings, Clinical Visits in the Infirmary, Emergency Services, etc.
Introduction to Electrocardiography Course
Syllabus:
Theoretical lectures of a highly conceptual nature, which will cover the core aspects of the semiology of the various organs and systems (basic core semiology lecture cycle) and the semiology applied to the main clinical syndromes (core semiology lecture cycle applied to clinical syndromes).
Theoretical-practical classes focused on the discussion of clinical cases.
Practical classes
OPTIONALS
- DISEASES OF THE LOCOMOTOR SYSTEM
Interactive lectures based on problem solving; Seminars based on the presentation and discussion of clinical cases by the students; Practical classes with elaboration of clinical history.
- RESPIRATORY DISEASES
The theoretical and theoretical-practical lessons are articulated with the programmatic contents, in particular. The theoretical-practical classes are based on the presentation and discussion of clinical cases, by teachers and students. The seminars will consist in the presentation by the students, of themes previously assigned by the assistants.
- DISEASES OF THE URINARY SYSTEM
The subject area of Urinary System Diseases is composed of theoretical-practical and practical classes (observation of Urological Techniques at the Urology Service).
- ENDOCRINOLOGY AND METABOLISM DISEASES
Classes with TP component + 4 practical classes
- CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE
interactive sessions, seminar type, based on problems, which will make an integrated teaching using various clinical examples
- DIGESTIVE PATHOLOGY
7 seminars
CLINICAL SEMIOLOGY TRAINING
- Hospital Training Course
- ECG

Assesssment methods and criteria:
INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL PRACTICE
- Theoretical evaluation = 65
- Continuous assessment of Practical Classes (evaluation grid) = 10%.
- Practical evaluation (performed in the last two practical classes by the assistant) = 25%.
The evaluation of the practical classes will be based mainly on the performance of semiological gestures.
# To pass this assessment it is mandatory to have 10 points.
In the continuous evaluation components, there is no minimum grade associated (no minimum to fail)
The Practical Evaluation will be composed of the continuous evaluation, corresponding to 10% of the final mark of the subject area, and the final practical evaluation, corresponding to 25% of the final mark of the subject area

CLINICAL SEMIOLOGY INTERNSHIP - HOSPITAL INTERNSHIP + ECG
- Hospital Training Course
Preparation of 4 clinical histories
# Validation of the evaluation sheet (Student Global Evaluation Survey), implies the existence of:
- Signature of the Tutor
- Tutor's medical sticker or stamp of the Service where the internship took place
- There must be no erasures on the evaluation sheet.
The clinical internship will be evaluated by the tutor by completing a grid, assigning at the end of the survey a quantitative grade, rounded to the unit. To be approved the student must have a positive classification in the internship (10 points).
- ECG
The ECG course contributes 20% to the weighted classification of the Clinical Semiology Internship.
