Overall objectives:

1 - At the end of the course unit, students are expected to have deepened the basic knowledge of the German language, being able to meet the learning goals with regard to understanding, speaking and writing at level B2.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Furthermore, they will have developed metalinguistic awareness of the functioning of the German language in a contrastive way, as well as the competence of autonomous and group work.
2 - This unit places a strong focus on communicative competence and is oriented toward language and communication in professional life.

Syllabus:

1 - Enhancing the language skills already acquired in previous years.
2 - 2 During the contact hours, students will carry out the assignments from the textbook and the additional material dealing with business German, under teacher guidance.
3 - During autonomous work, completion of the assignments in the workbook (6.5 hours of work per week) and the supplementary material.
4 - Preparation and presentation of communicative practices such as programs, meetings, interviews.
5 - Gathering relevant information from written texts of intermediate difficulty.
6 - Understanding questions, asking for and giving information, news and telephone conversations in everyday and especially professional situations.
7 - Drafting a professional curriculum vitae, official/commercial letters and e-mails.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Students will work in classes mainly in the following three variants: individual, pair and group. The assessment consists of two written partial exams (40% each) and a project (e.g. preparation and simulation of a job interview) (20%). The final grade is the average of the results of the three assessment elements. A minimum final grade of 9.5 is required in order to pass. During Supplementary Season (Época de Recurso), students with normal status (N) will be admitted if they meet the conditions to recover or improve the written test in which they obtained the lowest mark (40%). Students with work-study status (T) may take a written test of the two partial exams (80%) in the Supplementary Season. Students admitted to the Special Season (Época Especial) may take one written test corresponding to the two partial exams (80%). Project work (20%) cannot be recovered or improved during Supplementary and Special Seaons.
