Undergraduate Degree in Electronics And Telecommunications Engineering

The cycle of studies of the Undergraduate Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications’ Engineering is comprised of 6 semesters (3 academic years). Those who successfully obtain 180 ECTS are awarded the title.   

The main objective of this degree is to train professionals to be capable of facing the challenges of a demanding and dynamic job market linked to this sector, in an independent and skilled manner.

Specialists in Electronics and Telecommunications’ Engineering are dedicated to the analysis, specification, design, industrialization, commercialization, and use of products and services, that have information technologies as its main foundation. Throughout the degree, the practical laboratorial experience is promoted, thus, promoting the development of the project ability. Together with a solid scientific training, the subjects that are the basis of engineering's knowledge (Mathematics and Physics) are both studied and deepened. As this is a field in constant expansion, throughout the degree students are prepared and encouraged not only to a future integration in several sectors, companies and organizations, but also to the creation of their own employment, making the most out of the entrepreneurial support available in this field.

Career Opportunities and Employability

Graduates of this degree will be able to carry out duties related to the planning of systems, projects, telecommunications, data networks, electronic devices (analogue and digital) and of signal processing; Develop technical duties of implementation and maintenance of information systems; Promote research and technological development applied to telecommunication and computer network systems; Carry our duties in the fields of production and distribution of energy, robotics and computing.

Candidates

This degree is aimed at those seeking to develop their knowledge and critical thinking in the area of Electronics and Telecommunications. Students should be capable of keeping track of the evolution in knowledge and technology throughout their professional life.  
Candidates may apply via the National Higher Education Access Contest providing they successfully passed one of the required admission exams. Candidates may also enrol via special regimes such as course/institution transfer, through one of the Special Contests in force or the Interntional Student Statute.
