Overall objectives:

0 - With the development of this curricular unit, it is intended that the student be able to:
1 - Identify and master the principles of a healthy and balanced diet.
2 - Acquiring knowledge and expertise in the field of nutrition in sport, allowing understand the nutritional needs associated with the general population at different stages of the life cycle, in physically active people and athletes of different modalities, in a sustained manner through research updated and reliable scientific evidence.
3 - Apply assessment methods of nutritional status in the general population, physically active people and athletes.
4 - Recognize and understand the role of diet and exercise, in the development of weight and hypertrophy management programs.
5 - Identify and recognize the effects of the recommended dietary supplements and doping substances in the body and in sports performance.

Evaluation Methodology:
The syllabus will be addressed through theoretical, theoretical-practical and practical laboratory sessions. The classes presented a largely expository character, using audio-visual equipment and supported by documentation in digital and paper. Will also be requested task, and fostered debate situations, cooperation, analysis and critical reflection among students. The assessment in this course based on the following field and parameters: (i) the preparation of a working group focused on a case study oriented, structured and assessed at different stages, through meetings between the group and the teacher (30%); (ii) one test; (iii) two short tests, and (iv) Continuous assessment (20%) based on the following criteria: attendance, participation and written assignments. It is required the attend in a minimum of 75% of total of sessions
