Overall objectives:

1 - The main goal of this curricular unit is to provide students with a basic training to the overall understanding of the tourism phenomenon, by the side of supply and demand. In this context, students will understand the fundamental concepts and historical evolution of tourism, the diferent sources of statistical information available, their structure and organization, as well as the characteristics and factors that determine the demand and tourist offer. As tourism is a dynamic activity of the territories, it is also intended to sensitize students to their impacts and the importance of their integral sustainability.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
The teaching-learning methodology will consist of theoretical classes, using the expository and interrogative methods, as well as practical classes, privileging the active method. These sessions of collective nature will be developed with the use of theoretical exposition and analysis of case studies and scientific articles, as well as in an interactive way, encouraging student participation. The consultation of mandatory and complementary bibliography, as well as the completion of group work, will enable to improve the understanding of the subjects. The assessment methodology will consist of a written exam of knowledge assessment (50%) and a group work developed by the students (50%). The objective of the group work is to identify and explain the organization of the activities of a given tourism product and present a case of good practices of integral sustainability.
