Overall objectives:

1 - Understanding the omnipresence of communication in human experience
2 - Mastering key concepts such as "information", "normative communication" or "Agenda-Setting
3 - Recognise the main theories and models of communication regarding their effects and functions in society, contextualising their historical, political and cultural dimensions
4 - Develop a critical and reflective position on Communication that allows to interpret and debate arguments about communication in contemporary societies and apply them in various professional contexts

3 - Four types of Communication: Verbal, Non-Verbal, Para-linguistic and Extra-verbal
4 - Communication Models: Linear, Circular and Mixed
5 - The Effects of Communication: from persuasive effects to cognitive effects

Evaluation Methodology:
The Curricular Unit is characterized by theoretical teaching, expository character that aims to raise the question of ideas, concepts and theories, as well as establishing a link between the critical appreciation of the phenomenon "Communication" and reality. The classes will have audiovisual support for optimal illustration and exemplification of the theories and models taught in class. Special care will be taken to relate theoretical content to the experience of students using photographs, videos or newspaper clippings as practical examples of the knowledge acquired. These classes include guidance and supervision, throughout the semester, in the realization of the work, as well as a space for debate. Written Test and Individual Work, each one worth 50% of the final mark
