Overall objectives:

1 - In this Curricular Unit is transmitted the technical knowledge of the photographic practice, namely the correct handling of the equipment and control of light, and of the various studio and laboratory materials, as well as knowledge about the history of the technique and the photographic language. With this knowledge the student should: - Understand the specificity of the photographic medium as an instrument of registration and artistic expression. - Reveal practical skills about photography as a visual medium.

Syllabus:

1 - History of technique and photographic language.
2 - The photographic language. Framing and composition.
3 - Technical Specificities. The Camera. Typologies and characteristics. Manual control of photographic exposure. Analogic vs digital. Photographic formats. Field depth. Lenses and lenses. Distance focaI. ISO.
4 - Natural and artificial light. Studio lighting. Color temperature.
5 - Laboratory practice of photochemical photography. Developing process (black and white), washing and drying. Filters and photographic papers. The contact proof.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

Classification Type: Quantitativa (0-20)

Evaluation Methodology:
Lectures of a expositive nature (content presentation) and demonstrative classes (demonstration and handling of the equipment, accomplishment of technical and expressive exercises and laboratory practice). Continuous evaluation: individualized pedagogical and didactic follow-up and a balance at the end of each applied exercise. Periodic evaluation: work / exercise proposals: analysis of the phases of the work. Technical and formal experimentation. Elements of assessment: Continuous assessment (10%). Periodic evaluation: Technical Portfolio (20%); Artistic Portfolio (30%); Author Portfolio (40%).
